Purerehua Is one of my favourite maori songs. As most of us know this song it's kinda about someone leaving the family to find their own way in life it mentions a part of having eggs and caterpillars like how we have babies then something about flying high up like how we have children but sometimes aren't lucky enough to see them for that long this is something that I thought of for a while everything and everyone dies but we keep these memories alive within ourselves this why this song is significant to me also my mum used to sing it to me before I went to bed at night

Kiaora Awaroa.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very moving post to me, and I'm sure to you too. The way you described the Song and how life can come and go and people are not always here for a long time really made sense in how you explained it.
This song sounds incredible - Unfortunately the link was not working properly and the song is not on the link its attached too. Is the Song on You Tube? It would be great if you could add in the link.
Does your mum still sing the song to you sometimes? Keeping memories alive of people is so so important and I think you are very mature that you understand and know this at your age.
Keep up the Hard work and sharing on you blog Awaroa. Im really proud of you and the work you are sharing on here.
Comment below and I look forward to reading your response.

Hey Awaroa,
ReplyDeleteYou explained what this song means to you really well, thank you for sharing a personal memory with us all. I thought it was really touching that you talked about how we will hold memories dear even when we die, it’s a beautiful thing to say and quite comforting. Maybe next time you could share a video or audio clip of the song for people who may not have heard it before.
I really love the waiata ‘E Karanga E Te Iwi E’, I enjoy how it brings people together to sing about how far we’ve come. This waiata sounds beautiful and very strong in person especially when it is performed by a Kapa Haka group. Have you heard this song before?
I hope to see you posting again soon! Also, please remember to post comments on other blogs to get extra points!
Toe feiloa’i fo’i,
